When applying for 2 positions at the same place, one cover letter or two?

It is the same position in two different departments at a college. Should I write one cover letter for both or make two different ones for each position. For the most part, each job descriptions are similar. In addition, if I should have 1 cover letter for both openings, should I provide two copies of the same thing? Thanks for any thoughts and advice!

apply for each job seperatley. You dont want to look lazy or like your trying to do things with as little effort as possible.
I agree, apply to each job separately. I work at a University and applications for different departments sometimes even go to completely different human resource people. If you send an application for both jobs to one department it may just confuse them and blow the chance for both jobs if they are not aware of the job in the other department. If the jobs are very similar, it can be as simple as using the same basic cover letter with minimal changes to cater to the specific job you are applying for.

I’m sure by now that you are aware of the importance of including a cover letter when searching for a job. Now a days it’s pretty tough to get a job without one, and you should be sure that your is the best that you can make it be. Coming up I include what are thought to be the most important points that your cover letter should be sure to meet.
Address it to the person that will be making the decisions. Sending your resume and cover letter off blindly in care of whomever in the HR department when it should be sent directly to the person that has the authority to hire you. Having your resume and cover letter handed to the top dog is critical, because it’ll get noticed that way for sure. Make sure to use appropriate titles (Mr., Mrs., and use professional language.
