Question by leah h: I need help writing a cover letter! ?
OK, here is the situation, I have decided to re-enter the workforce and have been a stay at home mom for the past 5 years, my son is now in school so i am focused on making a career for myself, anyhow to the point here. i need help writing a cover letter, i applying for a position as a dental assistant, while i don’t have any direct experience in the dental field this hobs offers training to the right candidate. i know i would perfect cause i love hands on interactions and working with people, i know i can bring assets to the company cause i do have computer experience as well as office experience but i am in a damb mind fog here trying to put it all together. Any advice would exceptionally grateful. thanks

Okay, here’s what your cover letter or letter of application should have:

1st paragraph: one or two sentences: “I am writing to apply for the job of ___________ at Acme Dentists, Inc.”

2nd paragraph: a little bit about yourself and why you are the best for the job: “For the past five years, my focus has been on the education and training of my son. (maybe something about the skills you developed in doing this) Now, as he enters school, I am eager to return to the work force and build a promising career for myself. (two to four sentences about your skills—love hand-on interatctions and working with people, experienced in computer work and office responsibilities, etc.)

3rd paragraph: wrap up and indicate your interest in learning more: “I am enclosing my resume/application/both. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss the position further.”

Sincerely, etc.
