No objective – objectives are for losers
No 3 pages – that is for CEOs or losers who have 3-4 MBAs & 2 PHDs (2 – 3 pages)
Resume Profile is the most important part – possibly not since you are internal (but still)

It goes like this, watch……

Profile>Value Propisition(as it relates to employer)>Results(experience)>Education – it really is that easy. I just reviewed 200 under 10% were ‘decently’ formatted – ugh morons.

Remember no one cares about skill sets listed in bullets – espc if you are internal candidate, they know what you did. RESULTS RESULTS.

If you follow any other format than the one I provided someone may steal your booty! RRRRrrr

Question by Chosen1: I used Open Office to make a resume, what format should I send it in?
Open Office uses ODF but if I send it as that will they have any problems viewing it in email? I don’t have MS Office so I use Open Office for free. If I should use another format, what format should I save it as, and will that mess up my template format?

Try Rich Text Format. It can be open by MS-Word and retains most of the formatting.

depends on how formal the position is that you’re applying for. Some companies have their own pro forma templates that you fill in according to what they need and others require detailed information going back a long way, or relating to specific issues such as security.
basically start with your personal details, name, address, contact numbers, age, and the position you’re applying for.
list your professional experience from most current situation and then go backwards.list achievements in each job and the reason you left.
any training or extra-curricular activity that is relevant to the position you are applying for.
then, if appropriate, a little about your school history – grades, subjects, achievements, depending on how far back you want to go :)
lastly, you might want to include the names of at least two people who will be happy to supply a character reference for you with their addresses.
if you think it’s appropriate, say a little bit about why you are applying for the job and what skills you think you have that make you a good candidate.
hope this helps :) and good luck with the job hunting

Good Resume Format

The most evident benefit of using free software is that there is absolutely no cost involved. Only access to the net and an operating system that is compatible with the product are needed.

Another advantage of using software that writes resumes is that all the templates are generic enough to adapt to just about any career type or field of experience or interest. This type of generalization can allow people to ensure their resumes are personalized as far as possible as well as give them templates and guidelines that can assist them in finishing the resume. The templates are exceedingly helpful and the resume writing software generally offers a number of styles and templates including functional, chronological, technical and hybrid.

For new employees and for those with limited work history like recent graduates, the functional template is ideal. For those who have a substantial work history and number of achievements to their credit in their career, the chronological template will work best. There are those who have worked for a lengthy time period but have held only one job title in spite of work responsibilities advancing and changing over time and for such people the hybrid template, which is a combination of chronological and functional, is best suited. For people with very specific skills such as compute professionals, trades people, medical technicians and others, the technical template is suitable.

Good Resume Format

Most free software which write resumes provide options for emailing ones resume, posting ones resume online and producing follow up and covering letters or emails.

Along with the benefits, there are also a few drawbacks involved with the resume writing software. Perhaps the biggest disadvantage is that most of the templates have a tendency to be structured and resistant to modification and change, which means that one cannot really deviate from the template much, despite the requirement of additional space or the need to do away with some sections or headings of the resume.

There is also a very limited range of fonts, graphics and characters one can choose from to use in the covering letter or resume. These free software usually do not have the advancement required for professional and high level resumes because the resume writing software does not have options that highly trained and skilled professionals require in their covering letter or resume. It is recommended that these type of professionals go for the specialized advance level resume writing software or service which writes professional resumes.

There is some sort of support for both free and purchased resume writing software programs, but the ability and scope of the free software programs is mostly limited when compared to that offered by a purchased software package.

Q&A: Looking for a resume format/template/samples?

Question by cocamojo57: Looking for a resume format/template/samples?
I am a single middle age mother who is trying to figure out the best format for a resume. I only have a high school education, and have worked at various part time and full time jobs in between raising a family.

What format should I choose? How do I get across my strengths best? Do you know of any websites where there are sample resumes of women in similar situations that I could look at for comparison?
