How do I format Job Duties on a Resume?

I’m putting my resume together and I was told to do two different things on the jobs duties part. Do I put my job duties in bullet points or do I write a short paragraph on my duties?

do bullet point and don’t use things like “I” or “MY” you want to tell them they already know it is yours, so don’t include that

I am looking for a job and I have to use a resume with the online job searches (hotjobs.com, Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com, etc). I’m using a good template from Microsoft, but was wondering what the best job resume would look like for someone with secretarial/office administration skills. Are cover letters necessary? What is a good cover letter suppose to look like?

If you were looking at an online resume of somene with strong general office and Microsoft Excel and Access skills, what exactly would you want to see in the resume to consider hiring this person? I am new at writing resumes and want to make a good impression.

Keep It Simple Silly!

Really…employers don’t want to read a paragraph. They only want the key points. Also, DO NOT make you resume’ more than 2 pages. A 1 page resume’ with a simple, well stated cover letter is enough. If you have the experience they want, it will be easy to see!

It has been a long standing fact that data entry jobs are hard to come by and that the programs and courses claiming to teach you how to make money online doing data entry are all bogus.

What these courses and eBooks teach you is how to place ads on search engines in order to sell products. This is known as pay per click advertising and costs money to do, it is also not a real job since you are working on commissions made from your sales. These programs have long been exposed and it is really only newbies looking for home job placement that still fall for them.

The last thing to watch out for in too good to be true offers is the proof of income that’s always shown on bogus offers. A lot of times people will sign up for an opportunity that they would never have considered simply because they saw a proof of income check in the hundreds of thousands.

Just keep in mind when you are doing a home job placement search that these checks can very easily be faked, and if by some miracle they are real then the money earned is most definitely from the sales of the course and not from an actual job.

Human Resources/hiring managers, bosses, managers, etc. I want to make a resume but I don’t want it to suck. What is a good format? Sources are appreciated if not able to show below. Depends on if you have lots of experience or not. I like a functional resume because you can highlight your skills, talents, and abilities; instead of just a list of places you worked and how long you were there. The main thing is to transfer your skills, talents, and abilities, to what the prospective employees wants.
Remember that now employers are using software to scan resumes and if not, the first human scan of your resume is about 5 seconds long. Not long to make a first impression. You must match the employer’s needs and your abilities. Hope this hleps
