Q&A: Resume help please! How can I fix?

Question by Maria O: Resume help please! How can I fix?
I have been able to find the job i have currently with no problems. However, in my quest to find a new position, I am having trouble and wanted to know whether or not the resume is the issue. The positions I apply for are only what I have experience in, sometimes way more than requested. The issue has been that in over 65 resumes submitted, not one phone call.. not even to inquire or ask any questions. Before my current position, I had all sorts of calls coming in. Even if I didn’t get the job, I’d at least get A call out of 50+ resumes.

this is in WORD and very neat with the proper editing.. i just can’t paste it like it shows in WORD

Not bad. I like the fact you have no objective. That to me is pure BS. I know what you want when I get the resume.
One thing I do not like is the fact you are detail oriented which is fine except many detail style people are obnoxious. I would say something to counter that such as people enjoy working with me.
Best of luck A1M0S

When creating an executive level resume you will discover that it will be different in many ways from  a normal resume in the way that it ought to be more detailed  and having understood this should be that little smidgen longer than a standard CV.

It is said the motive for this is because an executive standard resume will have to outline a focused set of attributes and possible employers who are  wanting to hire someone for this kind of spot and standard will in no doubt want to see evidence that the candidate for the job can put on show all the key  qualitys focused to that position and this is what your executive level resume should show and influence the possible employer.

Creating this kind of superior level resume that delivers everything you need to get across and in a qualified manner that keeps the possible employer  reading can in itself be a challenging task and this why many people turn to a high quality executive resume writing service online.

There are many websites made known there that offer a superior quality executive resume service and some are very somewhat priced and others you have to pay that  little bit more to get the CV you are looking for but for this kind of level, it is well worth paying to have the job made right the first time and come up with a fantastic CV that shows you are the right person for the job.

With a number of online CV writing services out there, you can create a package that suites your needs and by this I mean you can have a qualified cover letter produced for you when sending your CV out to possible employers and with a number of services you can even get thank you and follow up letters as part of your deal to add that ultimate touch to your qualified look.

remove the “advanced” specifications on your software skills. I, and many other people, won’t consider vlookup and pivot tables as advanced. it makes you sound like you have no idea what you’re talking about.

remove “Prepared and submitted import/export documentation”

remove “Provided customers with hassle free travel experience by focusing on their needs.”

overall, it seems too busy. and you may want to consider changing the carrerr summary to a missions statement. tell them what you want to do, not what you already did. thats what the history part is for.

Q & A: I need ideas on how to start my home business?

question of VocalistGirl : I need ideas on how to start my main business ?
Hi, I’m looking for newly married (wife stay at home) to some Christmas to make money. While I want to work from home, I realized (today) that I’m really good at writing back and cover letters … I know it all the time for family and friends …. All of them get when they let use My Resumes …… I have over 15 years experience working as an Executive Assistant – and I was like I was a small start advertising on my services Craigs’List get thinking a problem but …. (Here in Tucson, AZ.) How do I organize actually “paid” and still insure that my clients, I am not a con or what? I have a PayPal account and I would not mind, let them work in preview – but do not want people to steal my work. I plan only charges $ 20 per start to continue – until I build a reputation and save more money. Any ideas? Much appreciated ……. www.MySpace.com / MusiciansRock-Mrs. Meg Torrie – Best Answer:

Paypal would probably be the best way to start is that they offer buyer protection. Maybe if you build up your reputation, you can begin to accept other forms of payment. Just be careful of the IRS but you might want to get all your legal stuff out of the way (if you do not already) before you actually start to make big moolah! Good Luck!

Resume and job services!!?

Question by Team AMP: Resume and job services!!?
My class wants to know, what you know works today?

I still suggest, hiring a professional head hunter and resume writers. Do you have any recommendations or information on resume writing for MBA’s and executives?

Please post any info or hints!!

Best answer:

Answer by tigglys
I also suggest seeing what the school’s Career Center offers. Often, they have good options.

Also – make sure you stay listed with the MBA program grads (recruiters sometimes buy these!)

Professional writers & head hunters are certainly good options – but it also depends a little bit on what they are specializing in (the more technical their skills, the less important that they get a professionally written resume.)

Also – check out the big job boards (Monster, HotJobs, Careerbuilder) They all have good resume & interviewing info.

Finally – I really like www.TheLadders.com – YES the job seeker ends up paying the fee, but recruiters like it since it tends to suggest they are more serious about looking than people on other sites.

Best of luck!

Value of professional resume-writing services?

Question by Who Knew?: Value of professional resume-writing services?
Has anyone ever paid for a professional resume-writing service? If so, how helpful was this service? How much did it cost? Who did you use?

My husband, who is leaving the Air Force after 12 years, is applying for high-level executive positions. He has been recommended to a service that charges $ 600 to “write” his resume. We are willing to spend the money IF, and only if, it will help him get the type of executive position he is seeking. He has no relevant executive experience in the private sector as he has been in the military since he was 18.

Thanks for your time!

Best answer:

Answer by David W
$ 600! What a scam! You can buy a software program called WINWAY Resume maker for $ 40 that will do a better job than this aforementioned service. MS Word also has templates that are pretty good for resumes. Don’t worry about the lack of civilian experience. Military experience is much more valuable. It shows ability to take and give orders, attention to detail and able to work on a team. Employers love this type of experience. Buy some good neutral colored resume paper 20-30 pound and make sure the watermark is facing forward and not upside down. The unemployment office will have a vet rep that is highly trained on resumes and job search. Use these free services before you throw your money away.
