Be funny in a cover letter?
I have my resume and headshot to send in for an acting job, but I’m still working on my cover letter. Does anyone know if it’s ok to be funny in a cover letter for acting? Some people told me that I should because it shows them my personality and it won’t be like every other cover letter they’ll read. But other people said I should keep it completely professional. What should I do?
(and any advice on writing a good cover letter would be great too)
Thanks!

Agents and casting directors appreciate a simple cover letter. Honestly, they don’t have time to read them anyway. It’s your photo and resume that really count.
Good luck!

Keep it businesslike unless the agency asks for creativity in your cover letter. They usually don’t read them anyway.
Keep it more professional. They’ll prefer somebody who’s businesslike over someone who seems like everything’s a joke to them.
