Step #1 - Go Looking for Nests

Step #2 - Look Up Nests in Books or Online

This gives kids a more detailed look at these nests and the way they are constructed. It can be fun to see exactly how different bird nests can be, based on the bird that created them.
Step #3 - Construct a Nest
Now you are ready for the activity - making your own nest. You'll need some modeling clay, some leaves, some twigs, string, yarn, as well as other materials. Take the modeling clay and form it into the shape of a bird nest. Take the sticks, leaves, and other materials that you collected and put them on the outside and inside of the nest.
You'll have a cute birds nest that your children can display in their rooms. It's really a fun activity and a great way for kids to learn about birds and their nests.
