Applying to new Olive Garden-should I ask for interview on cover letter?
Question by Thursday: Applying to new Olive Garden-should I ask for interview on cover letter?
I’m a teen, and I’ll be applying to be a hostess at the Olive Garden that I will be opening.
In addition to dropping off my Olive Garden application and a resume, should I include a cover letter, and in doing so, should I request an interview in the cover letter, or would that be asking too much, unneccesary, inappropriate, etc.
This will be my first job, and there will likely be a lot of competition to work there. I’m a fast learner and I want to do everything I can to get the job…
I will not be opening the Olive Garden
TYPO
I have a resume from all of the extra-curricular activites I’ve done.

First of all, how do you have a resume’ if this is your first job? You should fill out an application and then give it a few days and call and ask the manager that it was received. That will show you are interested. By the way, I worked at an Olive Garden when I was younger and it sucked!
I wouldn’t. Sorry, but that may scare them or be kind of nerdy. Now, a cover letter makes you sound like you area hard worker, willing to go the extra mile, though.
I wouldn’t ask for the interview in your cover letter. Instead, I’d say something like, “My enthusiasm and ability to communicate with others sets me above the rest and I’d love the opportunity to prove that to you”.
Your cover letter in itself is a plea for an interview, that’s why you want to make it as awesome as possible.
I would def mention in your cover letter what you said- that you’re a fast learner and that you would be very committed to the job. Then just say that you look forward to hearing from them soon. I wouldnt directly ask for an interview. Best of luck to you!
you really dont want to ask for the job on the cover letter, a cover letter is to let them know that you are interested in the job how you found out about the job, etc.. thats where the interview comes into place for you to tell them you would like the job..
You can ask, but be subtle about it. Something like: “I would be happy to make myself available to discuss employment opportunities whenever is convenient for you.”
I don’t know how many times I have to repeat this. In a Darden restaurant such as Olive Garden or Red Lobster, you come in, fill out a personality and math test with your interview information, and they interview you afterwards. If you send in a resume or cover letter, then it will hurt your chances because it will seem as you are overqualified. Management and corporate does not accept self made resumes or cover letters.
